Week of April 5th
*For this week you will be used as guinea pigs. This crisis has given me the opportunity to think about creating a new class on World Mythology, so I found some basic activities that I would like for you to attempt to see if moving forward is a worthwhile endeavor.
**The videos are produced by Crash Course and deal with World Creation Myths which we got into a bit at the beginning of semester 1, but go into a much larger expanse of knowledge around them (the host is NOT John Green, and speaks slower).
**There worksheets to go along with the videos to help synthesize the material.
***There is an NY Times article and an NPR interview about the possibility of the mythical creatures of Greece actually being real and the importance of myth to humans, respectively.
****Remember, these assignments are OPTIONAL, but if you think this might be an interesting semester course, please let me know.

Week of March 30th
*This week we will be looking at the Tokugawa Empire, or Edo period, of Japan (1603-1868). A time of political stability, relative peace, and economic prosperity.
**The document is in two parts. The first part uses the PBS website linked below.
***The second part follows the very good documentary, Japan: Memoirs of a Secret Empire, linked below. Also, the documentary is Amazon! Enjoy:)!!
****To the right of the documentary is the Crash Course video about Japan, this will help to give a wider context.
*****This assignment is OPTIONAL, but will aid in our understanding of a unit we did not complete.
